OPS Installs Final Book Kiosk at Foust Elementary
On Monday, April 25 at 1:15 p.m. Foust students and staff, US Bank officials, DCPL officials, OPS Board of Education members and district staff unveiled the last of six Little Free Libraries, which serve as book kiosks at each elementary school. As part of the Owensboro Public Schools’ Literacy Initiative, we believe it’s important to give students access to books 24/7. US Bank along with six other financial institutions have each partnered with OPS elementary schools and Hager Preschool to volunteer in the schools and buy each school a Little Free Library.
OPS Installs Third Book Kiosk at Sutton Elementary
Owensboro Public Schools will unveil its first of six Little Free Libraries at Cravens Elementary School on Thursday, Sept. 3 at 1:30 p.m. The ceremony kicks off OPS’ Owensboro Reads Campaign for the 2015-16 school year. Earlier this year, six local financial institutions each adopted an OPS elementary school. The banks supply their school with volunteers and money to purchase a Little Free Library.

Kentucky Arts Council Artist Molly Eric is working with students at all five OPS elementary schools to create a decoupage canvas based on a book the students read. Decoupage is a term used to describe the craft of decorating objects with paper cut-outs. v
