Over 40 OHS students taking a class called Family and Consumer Science Essentials visited various locations in Owensboro to job shadow professionals in our community during the school day on March 27. The students completed the first two lessons of the Junior Achievement Job Shadow curriculum prior to their site visits.
Seventh-grade honors language arts students at OMS North recently read the novel Pay It Forward. Students are now in the process of “paying it forward” in real life by completing community service/kindness projects.
Owensboro High School students and staff had an ACT pep rally on Monday, March 20 at 2:30 p.m. in the auditorium in preparation for the ACT that all juniors in the state of Kentucky took on Tuesday.
Owensboro Public Schools are celebrating the 18th Anniversary of the OPS Fine Arts Festival at the RiverPark Center beginning March 20 and running through March 30. This annual celebration of creativity in the arts brings over 3000 student performers together for 7000 audience members over two weeks of performances.
Two OHS African-American studies classes hosted a panel of Owensboro African-American leaders from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in the OHS media center on Tuesday, March 7. OHS students are currently reading about the use of the “n” word in their African-American studies class.
