What's Happening at Cravens Elementary
Mrs. Hamilton’s kindergarten class recently celebrated St. Patrick’s Day.
Nothing like green donuts for a treat! Thank you Mrs. Boswell!
Congratulations to all the students who have worked hard this last
9 weeks! Cravens Cubs have really been setting the example for our PAWS expectations. Two
student’s names were drawn from each class. These well-deserved students went
on a trip to Pizza By The Guy. Each student had the opportunity to make their
very own pizza. Thank you Cravens Cub for your hard work and Pizza by The Guy
for hosting us. Cubs keep up the good work!
Congratulations to our second graders and Mrs.
Wells for a job well done! Thursday evening, they performed Horton Hears a Who. Horton, the whos and all
the animals looked great and sang beautifully.
Cravens Cubs celebrated their fathers and all they do. Dads
enjoyed a sweet and tasty breakfast, some of our Cubs favorite. Donuts!! Thank you dads for all you do.
Cravens Cubs are still hard at work. Our
students that won the 2nd 9 weeks field trip Cub Cash drawing had a
great day at the Edge Ice Center! Keep up the good work and earn that Cub Cash!
Stay tuned for our next Cub Cash reward. Remember two students will be chosen
from every class.
Cravens Cubs are 100 Days Smarter! Our Cubs have been working very hard. Students and staff celebrated their hard work by dressing up as a 100-year-old person. Congratulations to all our students! We are very proud of you and your efforts.
Mrs. Wells music classes
recently had the opportunity to learn about Bill Monroe who was born in
Kentucky and the father of Bluegrass music. Cravens Cubs have been able to play
and learn about bluegrass instruments like the fiddle, banjo, mandolin, guitar
and bass. A bluegrass band will be joining Cravens during our next assembly.
During library media Mrs. Wood's K-4
students have been learning about the important contributions of many African
Americans. Cravens Cubs recently completed character maps focused on Martin
Luther King. Students have also learned about the Greensboro Sit-ins and their importance.
They have had a great deal of focus on cause and effect. Cravens Cubs have been
very inquisitive about the events during the Civil Rights Movement.
Cravens Cubs are back at
it and working very hard. Mrs. Simon's 4th graders have been learning about
electricity and circuits. Students built a simple circuit to light a bulb with
batteries and wires. Others have built parallel and series circuits to sound buzzers,
light lights and turn small motors. They used switches and tested their effect
on buzzers and lights.
