Last day of school
The last day of school is Friday, May 19th. Everyone has worked very hard for another successful year at Estes!
Come join us at 10:00 a.m. as we recognize our 4th graders one last time before they head off to OMS! You will all be missed and will always be a part of the Estes family!
At 1:15 p.m., we will have a school wide assembly recognizing our honor roll students and those with perfect attendance.
Everyone have a safe and happy summer break!!
On January 27, we celebrated the 100th day of school at Estes. It was an exciting day! Some of our teachers and students dressed up like they were one hundred years old, doorways were decorated with banners, and teachers created lesson plans and activities in the classrooms involving the number one hundred. We are proud to say our students are one hundred days smarter since the 2016-2017 school year began. Please stop by our Photo Gallery to see photos from this special day.
Estes Elementary will be hosting the Scholastic Book Fair during the week of Feb. 20th.
Donuts for Dads (sponsored by the FRC) will be Wednesday, Feb. 22nd. We will start serving at 7:20 a.m.
The Book Fair will be open Monday through Thursday, from 8:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., and will close at noon on Friday.
Parents are welcome to come by at any time during the Book Fair hours to shop with their children.
You can also shop online at www.scholastic.com/fair. Follow the prompts to log on to Estes Elementary School. Your online purchases will be shipped free of charge to the school.

Last week, Estes students and staff honored veterans in the community with a special program held in the gymnasium. Each grade level sang a song that represented the five different branches of the military. During the songs, veterans from each branch stood and were presented a small American flag. At the end of the program everyone proudly sang, You’re a Grand Old Flag, while waving flags. Thank you to our special guests that came and participated in our program: Ms. Alma Randolph, the Owensboro Middle School Chorus, and Owensboro High School ROTC for the presentation of the flags.
Recently, two of our school photographers, Ja'Niya and Aubrey, were asked to work on a special project. They interviewed students and staff members to see what they liked about Estes and a video was created that was shown at the Owensboro Public Schools Board luncheon last week. This video shows what makes Estes such a special place: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uUEtn4ES-5g
