Foust students have the opportunity to earn dollars each day they are at school. The first Foust dollar of the day is given for simply being at school on time each morning. Then, throughout the day, students have the opportunity to work their way up the color chart for working especially hard, demonstrating good character, and being responsible. Students are then paid at the end of the day based on the color chart. Students this year have learned basic budget skills, such as saving and spending and evaluating needs and wants. Recently an art cart opened at Foust and students had the chance to purchase art supplies. The next spending opportunity students will have will be next Friday on Club Day. Students are busy thinking about what Club experience they want to be a part of. Options include cake decorating, healthy snacks, jewelry making, hair salon, canvas painting, woodworking, and many more. Be sure to save up your Foust Bucks for Club Day!
On the evening of Thursday, September 15, families visited Foust Elementary and had a taste of what students do daily at school. Families were able to visit classrooms and learn about the curriculum in the classroom, the new Foust Buck system, the Leader In Me program, and more. Student leaders warmly greeted visitors as they toured the classroom. In addition to visiting the classrooms, families also visited special areas classes, such as music, gym, library, and science. This was also a great opportunity for students to show parents our new Dr. Ben Carson Reading Room. Once students had completed their visit and earned five punches, they received dinner. In all, we had about four hundred visitors tour our building and learn more about what students do at school each day.
Students were surprised last week when they were given the opportunity to spend hard earned Foust Bucks at the Pixie Stick Shoppe! While some spending opportunities are announced and planned far in advance a variety of pop up shoppes surprise students from time to time as well. Students earn Foust Bucks for being at school on time and demonstrating leadership qualities as well as working hard. The next big spending opportunity will be in just a couple of weeks at our Christmas Store.

On January 12, Foust welcomed Bluegrass band "High Fidelity" in concert. Students have been studying Bluegrass music history and instrument names. High Fidelity played various songs for the students and even had all of the students singing along to Blue Moon Of Kentucky!
