What is happening at Newton Parrish.
4th grade students worked on researching a person who made an impact on our history. The students wrote an informational piece, prepared a display board, speech and costume design. Students presented to an audience of parents, friends, students and teachers.
Newton Parrish partnered with Daviess County Public Library for students and families to learn more about what our public library has to offer. Students and parents had the opportunity to enjoy story time, create a craft, register for their own library card and participate in a scavenger hunt. Many students used this opportunity to check out some awesome books.
Newton Parrish students celebrated I Love to Read Day by dressing as their favorite book character or red carpet attire.
During the month of February, Newton Parrish Student Lighthouse Team members helped to collect pet supplies to donate to area pet shelters. Our donations were made in memory of Melissa Baber, daughter of Sherry Baber- Director of Hager Preschool. Melissa was an avid pet-lover. Mrs. Baber and her son came to accept the donations in Melissa's memory during our Friday Morning Assembly on March 3rd. Our students were excited as they also were introduced to Melissa's dog, Isabelle.
P3 students convinced us all they needed a vacation after their performance on Thursday, March 2nd. The audience traveled through space camp, fishing, surfing the waves and even a trip to the ball park. These students really do need a vacation!
We held our annual Family & Community Leadership Day on Friday, February 3rd. Over 200 parents, family and community members were welcomed into our building to learn how we are empowering our students to become leaders through the Leader in Me process. Student leaders shared what they have learned through demonstrating the 7 Habits of Happy Kids.
Habit 5 Leaders were added to Mr. Sean's Spotlight on February 10th.
Habit 4 Leaders joined Mr. Sean's Spotlight with their Think Win-Win attitudes on Friday, January 13th, 2017.
These students were added to Mr. Sean's Spotlight this morning for Putting First Things First.
