After School Program

Sutton offers a daily enrichment program during the school year that provides supervised care for your child. Hadli McDaniel, Director of the After School Program, and staff are dedicated to offer a safe, enriching environment for reasonable costs to parents. Pre-registration, a parent signature, and a $15 non-refundable payment are requirements for students to attend. Fees are charged by the day and must be paid weekly. The fee for one child is $8 per, two children is $12 per day, and three children is $16 per day. If After School Program fees are not paid within two weeks, participation in the program will be denied. The program closes at 5:30 and operates only on days that school is in session.

Extended School Services (ESS) is designed to help the student who may not qualify for special education services, yet may need a boost in reading, math, or writing skills. ESS operates form 3:15 p.m. till 4:15 p.m.

Here at Sutton Elementary, we have a variety of Services that your child could take part in. Please take time to look through the services offered. If you need more information, feel free to give us a call.

Our guidance counselor, Kristin Tines, is available before, after, and during the day to parents and students as she works to help students learn to develop a healthy emotional and psychological concept of themselves and others. With a positive mental attitude, students are encouraged to enhance their academics.

Health Room

Our full-time health technician is available for student health needs from 7:30 am to 3:00 pm. She dispenses medications and assists in sick child needs and emergency situations. A registered nurse supervises and assists our health technician, being on site one day per week. She assists in medical issues and provides health and nutrition classes via Health and Physical Education classes.

Family Resource

Our Family Resource Center Director, Jennifer Thurman, provides services to our school community 210 days of the year. Parents are encouraged to call the FRC director for assistance with basic needs that are important to the well-being of students - such as school supplies, health needs, and clothing needs. Additionally, the Family Resource Center will supplement many other support services for our school community, and its families, to increase parent/community involvement.

Special Services

Learning Resource/Speech and Hearing

Students who are identified to need special assistance due to an identified area of disability will receive the assistance of teachers and assistants trained to work with special needs students. A process will be initiated to evaluate students based on teacher or parent referrals. Parents should contact classroom teacher, the curriculum facilitator, the guidance counselor, or principal to inquire about this support area.

Sutton's cafeteria staff provides nourishing, well-balanced meals at breakfast and lunch each school day. If your child decides to bring lunch from home, please note these guidelines:

All students go through the cafeteria service line. NO FAST FOODS are allowed in cafeteria, child or adult.

No soft drinks in cans or bottles are allowed in cafeteria.

Adult visitors are welcome to eat with students if reservations have been made with cafeteria before 9am. Call 686-1142. We ask parents not to each lunch with students during the first two weeks of school. After the first two weeks, we ask that parents eat with their child at the Visitors Lunch Table due to confidentiality guidelines for all students. Students may invite a friend to sit with them.
