Bluegrass Assembly

Sutton 3rd and 4th graders have been learning about Bluegrass music with the Bluegrass in the Schools (B.I.T.S.) sponsored by the Bluegrass Museum from January 2nd through January 13th. Today they were able to welcome a Bluegrass Band out of Nashville, TN called High Fidelity. The students learned more about the history of Bluegrass and its Founder, Bill Monroe, while clapping to the beat of the music performed by the group.

The Bluegrass Museum offers a Saturday class for students which is designed to make bluegrass music more accessible to all who are interested in learning to play an instrument. Please visit: http://www.bluegrassmuseum.org/saturday-music-lessons/ for more information.

Ribbon Cutting/Story Book Christmas Bookmark

Ribbon Cutting/Story Book Christmas
On Tuesday night, during Sutton's Annual Story Book Christmas, there was a special event that took place. School officials cut a ceremonial ribbon to officially open the space. Sutton Elementary has been and is a special place for anyone who has connections to the school. Over the past year, the school has undergone some major renovations. Students and staff wanted to showcase their new, state-of-the art facility to the public. After the ceremony, students and their families enjoyed snacks, arts/crafts, and even a great Christmas story called, "Pete the Cat Saves Christmas. Sutton’s chorus (SEC) performed and their drama  (Rose Bud Curtain Players) did comedy sketches throughout the evening.  Art projects were also showcased in the new display cases outside the new gym. It was a wonderful night filled with many laughter's and heartfelt fellowships.
