The Owensboro Independent Board of Education is seeking an innovative and motivational leader with strong, proven leadership and a record of improving student achievement as its next superintendent.
The successful candidate should have administrative experience and be an instructional leader who is committed to college and career readiness. It is important for the candidate to have effective people skills, be curriculum oriented, as well as be visible in the community.
The candidate should possess strong morals and ethics. Knowledge of budgeting, school finances, buildings and grounds, along with working knowledge of the Kentucky Education System are required.
Owensboro is located on the Ohio River and is the county seat of Daviess County. The city is located directly off I-165 with easy access to Louisville, Kentucky and Nashville, Tennessee.
Owensboro Public Schools is a diverse district with nearly 5,000 students and a 38.5 percent minority population. The district was named a Top 25 District of Innovation in 2018 by the National Superintendents Association and won The Kennedy Center Award of Excellence in 2016 for their fine arts program. In addition, Owensboro is the hub in Western Kentucky for industry, medicine and tourism.
The salary will be competitive with the contract to begin no later than July 1, 2020.
