Our district can’t begin to imagine how the Class of 2020 is feeling as we wrap up the end of their senior year. This school year has ended in a way that no one ever wanted, or could see happening, but this class has risen to the occasion and have led their school to the finish line. This class will not only be remembered for their accomplishments in the classroom, on stage and on the athletics fields, but for their willingness to face adversity during an unprecedented time and get through it as a family.
As we continue to move forward as a community, our district wants to make sure we honor the Class of 2020 in a way that they deserve. We also need to make sure that when we do that, we do so in a way that is safe and protects everyone in the OPS family as well as the community by taking all necessary precautions.
That being said, after speaking with principals, student leadership and other school districts across the state and the country, we have landed on a plan that we think will honor the Class of 2020 while following all proper procedures from state and national health officials.
Each of our three high schools are putting together a slideshow that will feature each graduate of the class of 2020 with information about their plans following graduation. These will be completed and shared via social media platforms and the district YouTube channel by May 25, 2020.

After hearing from our student leadership and others, it was clear that an in-person graduation was a top priority for the Class of 2020. The “Save the Dates” listed above are the dates that we have set aside to do just that. We are unsure of what the ceremony will look like at this time, but we plan to have an in-person graduation at the earliest date possible listed for each school.
More information will come as we get closer to those dates, but we wanted families to have the opportunity to plan ahead. Keep in mind, there will likely be restrictions on the number of family members that can attend, so please plan to limit your party to immediate family only.
We are committed to honoring the Class of 2020 in a way they truly deserve!
