Owensboro, Ky. (July 19, 2024) – Owensboro Public Schools has named Cassie Campbell the next director of the Owensboro Innovation Academy. She replaces former director Beth Benjamin who was recently named to the District Counseling Director post.
Campbell takes the reins at OIA after serving the past year as an assistant principal at Daviess County High School. Prior to that, she served nine years as a counselor at Daviess County and also spent three years as an assistant principal at McLean County Middle School. She began her career in 2007 as a Spanish teacher at Daviess County.
“I am excited to lead the team at Owensboro Innovation Academy and help ensure our students are fully prepared for life after high school,” said Campbell. “Our focus on project-based learning empowers students to think critically and develop the skills necessary for success in today’s rapidly changing world and provides a unique way to apply the lessons they learn to real-world experiences.”
Campbell earned her bachelor’s degree in Education with a focus on Spanish from Kentucky Wesleyan College. She also holds a master’s degree in School Counseling and her Rank I in School Administration from Western Kentucky University.
“We are beyond thrilled to have Mrs. Campbell leading OIA into their next chapter,” said superintendent Dr. Wendy Duvall. “Beth Benjamin and her team did a phenomenal job launching the school and turning it into a shining example of nontraditional learning in a public school setting. I look forward to watching Mrs. Campbell continue to build on the success of OIA and find new, innovative ways to provide the highest quality education for our students.”
In her new role, Campbell will oversee the day to day operations of the Owensboro Innovation Academy. She will coordinate all staff to provide quality instruction of the school curriculum and student activities in addition to continuing ongoing community partnerships between the school and local organizations.
