Owensboro, Ky. – (Jan. 21, 2025) – In a groundbreaking move to enhance student health services, the Audubon Area Community Care Clinic (AACCC) has partnered with Owensboro Public Schools to introduce Tytocare, a state-of-the-art telehealth solution. This collaboration aims to provide convenient, on-demand healthcare access to students, ensuring their physical well-being while minimizing disruptions to their education.
Tytocare is a cutting-edge telehealth device that enables remote examinations and consultations with licensed healthcare providers. Equipped with tools to assess heart rate, lung sounds, throat, ears, and skin, Tytocare allows students to receive accurate diagnoses and treatment plans without leaving school grounds. The device is designed to address a wide range of common health issues, from sore throats and ear infections to rashes and colds.
“We are excited to bring Tytocare to Owensboro Public Schools,” said Samantha Taylor-Kaai, Clinic Program Director of Audubon Area Community Care Clinic. “This technology is a game-changer for families in our community, providing accessible healthcare solutions that save time, reduce barriers to care, and prioritize the health of our children. This partnership is another step toward creating healthier, more supportive environments for Owensboro’s youth.”
The Tytocare service is not intended to replace primary care physicians for children who already have them. Instead, it serves as an additional resource, offering convenient in-school access to care. For children without an established primary care provider, the program also provides an option to connect with AACCC and make it their primary medical home. This dual-purpose approach ensures that all students—regardless of their current healthcare situation—have access to quality medical care.
Services offered through the school health program partnership include visits for minor health issues, immunizations, and physical exams/annual wellness visits. Additionally, the program accepts students no matter what insurance they have, and a sliding fee scale is available for children without insurance, ensuring that every child has access to these essential services.
“Keeping students healthy is essential for academic success,” added Dr. Wendy Duvall, Superintendent of Owensboro Public Schools. “This partnership with AACCC and the integration of Tytocare technology allows us to create an environment where students can be seen at school for minor health issues, keeping them in school and allowing them to thrive both in and out of the classroom.”
This initiative underscores AACCC's commitment to community health and innovative care delivery, further solidifying its role as a leader in addressing the needs of families in Owensboro. By integrating Tytocare, AACCC is bridging the gap in healthcare access for many students, particularly those in underserved communities. This program alleviates barriers such as transportation challenges, financial constraints, and scheduling conflicts that often hinder timely medical care. Moreover, the initiative supports working parents by reducing the need to take time off work, helping families maintain stability while ensuring children’s health needs are met. By proactively addressing minor health issues and emphasizing preventive care, AACCC and Owensboro Public Schools are fostering a healthier, more equitable community.
