This Thursday, January 4, 2024 at 5 p.m. at the Owensboro Independent Board of Education, the First Joint Meeting of the Superintendent Search Committee and the First Screening Committee Meeting will take place.
The Joint Meeting will be an open meeting and Quin Sutton from the Kentucky School Board Association (the district's appointed search firm) will be in attendance to break down the number of applicants and their demographics for the Board as well as preview the tentative timeline for the process.
Following his report, the Screening Committee will immediately go into closed session to review the applications and begin their screening process. That portion of the meeting will not be open to the public.
The screening committee will be responsible for reviewing the applications and selecting a handful of candidates to present to the Board as a recommendation for them to interview. From there, the Board will have the option to review all of the applications, even those not recommended by the committee, and interview whichever candidates they choose.
The tentative schedule to have a replacement named is early April, but that timeline is subject to change based on how the process plays out. Anita Burnette is in place to remain as the interim superintendent through the end of the school year.
