Owensboro High School recently learned that senior Landon Block has been named a National Merit Finalist for 2025.
He is among 15,000 students throughout the United States still in the running to be named a National Merit Scholar. Those selections are expected in early March.
The finalists advanced from a pool of 50,000 semifinalists who were chosen based on their Pre-SAT scores, with them being the highest scorers in each of the 50 states, representing less than 1% of each state’s high school seniors.
National Merit finalists have about a 50% chance of being selected as a National Merit scholar, with 7,250 chosen.
